HealthSpoke Connect v1.0 Online!

Things are moving forward. Last night I launched a new HealthSpoke website, along with version 1.0 of HealthSpoke Connect, our flagship business management tool for Health and Wellness Practitioners. Version 1.0 offers Client Management, online appointment booking, basic business statistics, and Business Profiles with a free listing in the HealthSpoke directory. There’s lots more work to be done, and we’re already planning version 1.1, but things are moving along! Check it out - comments and feedback are always welcome!

My First Bay Street VC Meeting

For years, I have been reading about the Bay Street investment bankers. Today I had my first introduction into their world, when I had a meeting with a downtown Venture Capital firm. Going into the meeting, I knew that at its current stage, HealthSpoke would not be a fit for them, but I figured that they might be able to help introduce me to others who were interested in investing in early stage companies. I was a little apprehensive, but it turned out to be a great experience. I received some positive comments and feedback on the business, and an offer to help make introductions as things move along! I also got to chat business with a very experienced deal-maker, and learn a little more about the world of private equity.

Interestingly, this whole meeting happened through networking. A friend of mine was taking a flight home from Halifax, and struck up a conversation with the woman sitting next to him. They got chatting about business, and she mentioned that she worked with some people in the financing business. My friend mentioned that he knew someone (that’d be me) who was working on a startup, she passed along contact info for the financing people, and next thing you know, I had a meeting booked. The power of connections at work…

As you can tell, this blog still needs a little more work to get it looking nice. I should be getting to that over the next few days, so check back soon.

By the way, I have figured out why MBET was so busy. To prepare you for life as an entrepreneur. In my first week officially on the job, I have been up working until 2am, and it looks like it’ll be headed that way tonight too. I even have meetings booked for Saturday morning. Oh well… I’m getting the full experience anyway!

Hi!! Glad you made it to my new HealthSpoke blog!! This site will be where I keep you all up-to-date on the trials and tribulations of starting my own software company, HealthSpoke Inc.
